Questions and answers

How Cherrie coaches, the closed beta and your deposit, your plan, your body and your food, in one place. Can't find yours? Email hello@coachedbycherrie.com.

Getting started

Will it be complicated to set up?

No. Setup takes about five minutes of simple questions, and from there Cherrie does the heavy lifting. Most days, it’s a couple of taps to log a set, or a message to Cherrie in the app, spoken or typed.

What will Cherrie ask me?

Up to fifteen questions, about five minutes: up to three goals, your week, your body, a safety check, your food, and how you’d like to be spoken to on a hard week. If you follow your own program, or don’t train yet, you’ll see fewer. In your first week, Cherrie asks a few more, one or two at a time. You can change any answer later.

Do I need a gym or a tracker?

No. You don’t need a gym or to lift already, and Cherrie reads no device: you tell it how you feel. Cherrie’s plan is built from what you have: a full gym, a basic gym, dumbbells at home, or bands and bodyweight. Change your equipment and your plan changes with it.

Where is Cherrie available?

During the beta, in the United States only, and not yet in California, Washington, Nevada or Connecticut, where the rules on health information need more work from us first. More states, and other countries, will follow.

When does the beta start?

Monday, January 4, 2027, for everyone at once. You can set up your account from Monday, December 28, so you’re ready to start, and the last day to get a place is Sunday, January 3. The 12 weeks end on Sunday, March 28, and your deposit is refunded the next day.

What do I get?

One AI strength and fitness coach that understands, plans, adapts and holds you to it. On Cherrie’s plan, your strength training is written and adjusted. On Your own plan, your program is read and every lift is coached. Both come with weekly check-ins, Cherrie to message 24/7, a monthly SAM score, nutrition guidance in the food you eat with calories and macros from what you log, and full control of what Cherrie knows about you.

The beta, the cost and your deposit

How much does it cost?

Free in the closed beta. A $21 deposit secures your spot for the 12 weeks, and when they’re up, you get a full refund to your card, automatically. After that, the web app is $9.99 a month if you’d like to keep going. If you’re subscribed when the iOS and Android versions launch at standard pricing, you keep $9.99 for as long as you stay subscribed. Nothing else is charged unless you choose to stay.

Why is there a deposit?

So every place goes to someone who’ll use it. The first 100 women to pay get a place, and once you’ve paid, you’re in. It isn’t tied to how often you train, and it’s always yours, even if you leave early. Go quiet and Cherrie checks in after 3 days, then 7. The 100th payment closes the beta list. The waitlist stays open for news of more places and the launch. The beta terms

Is the $21 really refundable?

Yes, to everyone, at the same time: it comes back to your card on March 29, when the 12 weeks are up, whether you stay, stop or leave early.

What happens after the 12 weeks?

Only what you choose. We’ll keep the web app running at $9.99 a month if you’d like to stay, or you can stop. Either way, your deposit goes back to you. When the iOS and Android versions launch at standard pricing, the web app closes. If you’re subscribed then, as a small token of our thanks, you keep $9.99 a month in the app for as long as you stay subscribed.

Why only 100 places?

We are strictly limiting our 12-week closed beta because we refuse to treat you like a metric. More importantly, we want to hear from every single woman in this group because your voice shapes the future of what Cherrie becomes. It’s one cohort, starting together on January 4, and the beta list closes at the 100th place.

Does Cherrie take insurance, or can I use my HSA or FSA?

Not during the beta. Cherrie doesn’t take insurance, and it isn’t HSA or FSA eligible yet. We’re working on HSA and FSA payment for the iOS and Android apps, for members whose clinician finds Cherrie medically appropriate.

How Cherrie coaches

How does Cherrie keep me consistent?

It fits your training into your real week and changes today’s session when your day changes: shorter, lighter or moved, with nothing to catch up on. It reaches out before a session, nudges you if you haven’t started and checks in after, at the times you choose. At your weekly check-in, it’s honest about what’s holding you back, then checks back the next day. Go quiet, and it checks in after 3 days, then 7.

How will I know it’s working?

By how you feel, how you move and how you look in the mirror: all three, not one or the other. Your check-ins track your energy, sleep and recovery. Your progress shows each lift from your first session to now, and Cherrie tells you each new best. If you choose, it tracks your weight and measurements toward your goal, and holding steady there is progress too. Every week shows whether you trained.

Will Cherrie just keep adding weight?

No. On Cherrie’s plan, you start with lighter weights and more reps while your technique settles, with form checks for every lift. A weight goes up only when you hit the top of its rep range on every set, with reps to spare. Two hard sessions in a row bring it down a little, and a lighter week is planned from the start. On Your own plan, Cherrie tells you what your logs show.

Is an AI really going to be empathetic?

Empathy here means responding to what you tell it, without judgment. Tell Cherrie you’re feeling rough or your period hit hard, and it doesn’t push: it recommends a lighter version of today, says why, and moves it instead if that’s what you need. It’s empathy in action, built to keep you consistent, not to shame you into quitting.

Is Cherrie a real coach?

Cherrie is an AI strength and fitness coach, and it will never pretend to be a person. It works from every session you’ve logged and everything you’ve told it. It’s fitness coaching, not medical care: it can’t assess an injury or diagnose anything, and when that’s what you need, it tells you who can.

Is Cherrie a trainer, a coach or an accountability partner?

A coach, and a coach covers all three. Like a trainer, it writes your sessions, sets your weights and takes you through every set. Like a strength coach, it plans your progress and knows when to add weight and when to ease off. Like an accountability partner, it’s there 24/7, checks in weekly and reaches out when you go quiet. On Your own plan, your program does the training and Cherrie coaches you through it.

How is Cherrie different from asking an AI chatbot?

A chatbot is built to answer anything. Cherrie is built for one job: training and coaching you, week after week. It starts from your life, your schedule, your equipment, what hurts and what you lifted last time, and it speaks up before you think to ask.

I’ve tried so many apps before. How is this really different?

Most apps hand you a library of workouts and a calendar. Cherrie works like a live map that reroutes when the traffic changes: tell it what changed, and your plan changes the same day. At its core is the Cultural Attunement Engine, so every answer starts from your life, your body, your food and your week. And if you already love another program, Cherrie coaches that one too.

What is SAM?

Strength, Accountability and Movement: the three things Cherrie coaches. Strength makes you resilient, Movement keeps you capable, and Accountability keeps you consistent. Each month, your SAM score counts the sessions you completed, your check-ins, and your movement check compared with your last one. Your weight, measurements and photos are never part of it. On Your own plan the movement check isn’t included, so your score is Strength and Accountability.

Will Cherrie text me or send notifications?

Only if you choose to. On an iPhone, notifications need Cherrie on your Home Screen. For texts, add your number in the app, check the box and confirm it with a code. Up to 12 a week, around your sessions, your check-in and quiet days, each with a link to the app, where Cherrie answers you. Never your health, and at the times you choose. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop.

Your plan

What’s the difference between Cherrie’s plan and Your own plan?

Who writes your strength training. On Cherrie’s plan, Cherrie does: sessions, weights and progress in 12-week blocks, for strength, muscle or both. On Your own plan, you keep the program you follow and Cherrie writes nothing. It reads your program, tracks every lift and tells you what it sees. The coaching is the same in both. In the beta, both run for 12 weeks; other lengths unlock in the iOS and Android apps.

Which should I choose?

Cherrie’s plan if you want your training written for you, especially if you’re starting out or your program has stopped working. Your own plan if you already love what you do and want it coached, not replaced. Not sure? Start on Cherrie’s plan.

Can I switch between them?

Yes, any time, and your history comes with you. Moving to Cherrie’s plan starts a new block. Moving to Your own plan works any time too, though in the middle of a block Cherrie will tell you what you’d skip, like the lighter week and the peak.

I already follow a program I love. Do I have to stop?

No. That’s what Your own plan is for. Paste your program in and Cherrie coaches it: the work each muscle gets, every lift tracked, and a lighter week offered when your logs say you need one. It never rewrites your program.

I run and do Pilates. Does that count?

Yes, on either plan. Log it in a couple of taps and it counts toward your week and your recovery. On Cherrie’s plan, a run, a ride or a class takes a set off your next lower-body day, and Cherrie tells you why.

Where do the programs come from?

Cherrie’s plan is built from a library of movements using well-established strength principles: progressive overload, effort-based loading and planned lighter weeks. The essentials the evidence supports, not trends. In the beta, members’ feedback and progress decide how it improves.

Will it adapt to how my body moves?

On Cherrie’s plan, yes. In your first week, four quick tests show how your ankles, hips, shoulders and hamstrings move. The results change how a lift is set up, never what it trains: heels raised if your ankles are tight, a box squat if you can’t get low yet. If a test hurts, Cherrie points you to a physical therapist. On Your own plan, your program sets the movements.

Your body and your food

Will it understand my cycle, or perimenopause?

It goes by what you tell it, not a predicted calendar, because the evidence for training by cycle phase is thinner than the internet suggests. On Cherrie’s plan, when you log symptoms that hit hard, that day’s weights come down by about 10%. Anything clinical belongs with a doctor or a women’s health physical therapist, and Cherrie will say so.

What if something hurts?

On Cherrie’s plan, Cherrie swaps that movement out. On Your own plan, it tells you to ease off whatever sets it off. Either way it points you to a physical therapist, and it never tells you to push through pain.

Can Cherrie help me lose or gain weight?

Yes, toward a goal you set for your weight or your bust, waist or hips. Cherrie checks the goal is realistic for your body, plans a pace that keeps your muscle, and reads your weekly average. In five states so far, it can also give an optional daily calorie range that your weekly average adjusts. In every state, it never advises fewer than 1,200 calories a day, and it never suggests a weight for you.

Does Cherrie track calories and macros?

Yes, from what you log. Search for a food, describe a meal or photograph a label, and Cherrie works out the calories, protein, carbs and fat from USDA data or the label. Name a brand and it looks for that product. Set a calorie goal and macro split, and the grams add up. Fiber, sugar, saturated fat, sodium, calcium and iron can be tracked too. Meal photos and barcodes are planned for the iOS app.

Will Cherrie understand my food and culture?

Yes. You choose how you eat, from West African and Caribbean to South Asian and Mediterranean, and Cherrie’s nutrition guidance comes from it. Nothing is assumed about you. Cooking for a household? It works with the shared pot. Observing a fast? It asks what your fast involves, plans your training around it, and eases you back in after.

Who it's for, and trust

Who is Cherrie for?

It’s for you if you’re a woman who wants to build functional, aesthetic, real-world strength without the burnout. You’re looking for a holistic, empathetic coach that understands your body’s natural rhythms, celebrates your cultural identity and integrates into your real life. Whether you follow Cherrie’s own plan or a program you already love, Cherrie directs you through it all. You don’t need a gym, or to lift already.

Who isn’t Cherrie for?

Who Cherrie is not for:
• Individuals under 18 years old. Cherrie’s coaching assumes an adult body.
• Anyone currently pregnant. Pregnancy carries its own risks, which Cherrie isn’t equipped to handle.
If either is you, Cherrie will guide you to the right external resources for personalized support. After giving birth, Cherrie coaches you only with your doctor’s OK to resume training. There’s no set timeline, because every pregnancy and recovery is different.

How can I trust Cherrie?

It shows its work and pays attention to you, week after week. Every change comes with its reason, your plan follows what the research consistently shows, and it tells you where the evidence is thin. It won’t diagnose, put you on a crash diet or tell you to train through pain. And your information is never sold or used for ads.

What if it isn’t right for me?

Cherrie will ask. On Cherrie’s plan, it asks at the end of your first phase, and if the answer isn’t yes, your plan changes that week. You can also delete your account from Settings any time, and ask for a copy of your data first. If you leave the beta early, your deposit still comes back on March 29, with everyone’s.
